Midrash is a Hebrew term referring to the comparative method of exegesis of Biblical texts. Traditionally this exegesis was done through discussion and heated conversations about how to live the Biblical text. Often this discussion would happen in a semi-public forum at the city gates. the.river's community of faith is attempting to re-engage with this midrash type of gathering so that we can openly discuss contemporary issues and wonder out loud how does living the Jesus following life impact how we interact with the issues?
UPDATE: our next study is on the book The Reason For God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism by Tim Keller.
